Hair is porous. So, in order to battle chlorine intake, wet your hair before heading to the pool!
Eyeshadow and eye makeup are amazing and so fun to play with. Only thing is sometimes that pretty pigment fades throughout the day. That’s where eye primer comes in.
I have found that eye primer is an absolute necessity in keeping your eye makeup in place. Therefore, you definitely need a good one.

I luurrrvvv Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion for $19. For a lower end alternative try e.l.f.’s Eyelid Primer for $1. Once again, e.l.f. brings it home with the insanely low prices. Make sure you let both primers, especially e.l.f.’s, dry before you apply your shadow.
And I must say, Urban Decay’s is worth the purchase. I have had my primer potion for over 5 months and it’s still workin’ wonders.
Keep on Primin’ and Primpin’
If you have freckles you should only use creme based blushes. Powder blushes are usually overpowered by the pigment of your freckles.
Monday’s PRIMP bag is brought to you by Hayden!
What’s in Hayden’s bag?

The Super Fat Eye Marker by NYX in Carbon Black ($9.99)
Hayden says that she absolutely loves this super dramatic, dark liner because it’s easy to apply and lasts a pretty long time. This versatile liner can draw a thick line and a super fine line.
Hayden also swears by the Erase Paste by Benefit ($26.00)
She says she can always count on it to conceal everything and that her favorite place to apply it is under the eyes. The Erase Paste is also nice because it conceals and brightens all in one.
Send what’s in your bag to shay@prettyinmypocket.com for a chance to be featured!

During the Summer, Carry an SPF lip balm with you in your purse so you can protect those pretty lips!
My Beauty Discovery this week is all in the lashes and I’ve seen the proof with my own lashes (eyes).
I ran into one of my girlfriends and as we were chatting I couldn’t help but notice her fantastically long lush lashes. A few days later, I just had to ask: What are you using on your lashes? Her secret: Latisse. I was shocked but pleasantly surprised. Check these before and after photos out on Latisse’s website.
Amazing! Not only are the lashes longer, they are fuller, darker, and amazingly lush! I don’t think the commercials have done the product justice. I know I didn’t believe it until I saw it with my own eyes.

Check out their website for answers to some of your questions about the product.
My burning question: Why does Latisse require a prescription?
So because Latisse requires a prescription, visit your dermatologist or a plastic surgeon’s office to get your long lashes on.

TGIFF: Thank God It’s Frisky Friday
Who doesn’t love a good body scrub? There’s nothing better than a great product that makes your skin smooth and soft and, bonus!, smell yummy too.
I love Burt’s Bee’s Cranberry and Pomegranate Sugar Scrub for $13. It honestly leaves your skin sooo soft and it smells fantastic. I love cucumber melon or even more fragrant smells, but Burt’s Bee’s was right on the money with the soft fruity aroma of this sugar scrub.
*Pretty Tip: Make sure when you’re in the shower, you use this scrub last, aka after you wash your hair and shave if need be. The sugar scrub can make your hands a bit slimy (in a good way) and therefore it might get in your hair if you wash it after you scrub.

Pretty Is As Pretty Does: Tarte
We all know Tarte as a cosmetics company that creates healthy, nourishing cosmetics. One thing that you may not know about Tarte is that they continuously work with charities around the world, in an effort to give back. This week, Pretty in My Pocket wants to honor Tarte for keeping the Amazon safe.
“every year a chunk of land equivalent to the average-size U.S. state disappears, affecting an estimated 1 million of the world’s 5 million species of plants and animals” *
Tarte teamed up with the Sustainable Amazon Partnership (SAP) to promote forest stewardship, create new jobs, improve the living conditions and offer educational opportunities to small family farmers of the Amazon Rainforest. The farmers, in turn, work toward the sustainable management of the Acai palm tree.
Tarte uses this sustainable organic acai in their new t5™super fruit complex (a blend of the five most active, free-radical fighting super fruits). With the purchase of every product that contains t5™, customers will help in the effort to preserve the Amazon Rainforest.
Thank you Tarte for keeping an eye on our earth’s most nourishing lands and for giving meaning to Pretty Is As Pretty Does.

Carry an instant eye highlighter or concealer in your purse to give your eye’s a quick pick me up throughout the day!
Nail polish is always a fun way to spice up any look. With so many nail colors out there now, it’s sometimes hard to decide which one to buy. This week’s high/low selection is a great must have whenever you want to give your nails some extra pizazz.

Gold glitter nail polish is great by itself or fun to put on top of any other nail color to make it look extra spicy. Sometimes I even like to put this glitter polish on the ends of my nails like a french tip. It’s the perfect little some somethin.
For a more expensive route we found Butter London’s West End Wonderland for $14. For a more practical route there’s Sephora by O.P.I. Only Gold For Me Top Coat for $9.50.

F.Y.I. The Butter London Nail Polish is quite the durable top coat. Almost a little too durable for my liking. If you opt for this more expensive one, you will have to spend extra time with your nail polish remover.

Tuesday’s Out and About: Natural Body Spa and Shop
I was out and about and on the search for a little relaxation. Over the past two years I’d heard a lot about how wonderful Natural Body Spa’s were. So, I decided to give them a go. Hey, a massage is a massage is a massage right? WRONG!
I had one of the best massages that I’ve ever had at the Natural Body of West Cobb. My massage therapist was Utonda and my experience was fabulous. Word on the street is that people come from all around the state of Georgia to be a subject at her hands and I can see why.
I also had a wonderful signature facial with an esthetician named Sherri. My facial was only 30 minutes but you wouldn’t be able to guess that if you took a before and after picture. Sherri left my skin glowing, healthy and surprisingly soft.
Natural Body spa’s are also LEED Certified and have one of the only platinum LEED Certified spa’s in the U.S. They also have an amazing amount of natural products that are very luxurious. I’m a big fan of their brand Naturopathica.
So pretty Primpers, the next time you are Out and About and in need of a little relaxation, take a pit stop at Natural Body!

You get breakouts when you are stressed because stress stimulates adrenal glands, increasing oil production. Just Chill!
We consulted esthetician and makeup artist Julie Benecke for tips on keeping your eye make-up intact during this scorching summer heat. According to Julie, there are 4 tools that you can’t go without:

1. Long wear eye shadow- Colors that have built in primers are the best. They can be worn alone or built upon.
Try:
Bobbi Brown Long-wear cream shadows-$22
Make Up Forever Aqua Cream- $22
2. Lid primer- This will aid in helping your shadows stay longer.
Try:
Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer-$20
3. Waterproof liner- Wax pencils and even shadow liners will melt off into your crease no matter what you use to prime your lid. So, Waterproof liners are best.
Try:
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner-$20
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner -$9.99
4. Waterproof mascara- The trick is you need a good eye make-up remover when using waterproof mascara. Oil based removers are the only way to go.
Try:
Maybelline New York Define-a-Lash Volumizing Waterproof Mascara -$8.29
Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Waterproof -$10
Good luck keeping those pretty peepers in tact!
